The Truth About Web Hosting

By Derrick Ocean

In order for most websites to be on the Web, it has to be hosted on a server. There are a couple of ways to get this done. A lot of companies usually have their own servers and networks for their site to be on the web.

Some times the equipment and resources need to be set up and some times these systems can be very expensive, usually out of reach of smaller companies, and organizations. A lot of Internet Providers, like AOL, offer free web pages to people who subscribe with them. Also the are some sites that offer free hosting services. Geocities is one of those sites. Should you use their service they have a couple of disadvantages.Their services does not let you have your own domain name. Instead you will have to use a name that they give you.

Also if you decide to run advertisements they will also have to be through them. Any money that you make will also be kept by them. There also will be restrictions on how much space you can use and the visitors you can get every month. Another thing what you could do would be to use a web hosting company. For a monthly fee, the company would host your site on its servers. This illuminates the reason to buy any expensive hardware at the same time this also would be taking care of the other small disadvantages of using their hosting service. Most of your typical hosting companies usually run a couple servers and maybe one or more high speed connections to the internet. Most of the time connections that are linked directly to the lines the form the backbone of the internet, ensuring that your data gets through, to ensure that power is always available at all times of the day or night.
