What to Consider When Shopping For a Web Hosting Service

By Teddy Low

Nowadays there are endless choices in web hosting services; it is a tough call to pick up the right web host to run our website. Different hosting companies offer different hosting features in different pricing. With such wide variety, a checklist of must-have features is indeed necessary. For your ease to review, here is a quick list on the consideration factors in picking up the right hosting.

Disk Storage

First, you'll need to check on the hosting disk storage. Disk storage capacity is vital as it will determine how many files (web pages and other data files) to be stored in your website. Be aware that some hosting companies will count email and logs as your disk storage thus you are advised to estimate 20 - 30% extra on top of the necessary of disk space when selecting your hosting plan.

FTP Access

Secondly, FTP access will be a huge issue when shopping for the right web host. Avoid hosting companies that have too many limitations on FTP usage as the feature is very important for your website daily maintenance. The best option with FTP access is that you can register unlimited FTP account so that you can make full use of your hosting account.

Website Bandwidth

Thirdly, website bandwidth is another concern for most webmasters. The amount of bandwidth has an immediate impact on your website performance. For example, stagnant server response time and slow download time that affect users experience are often cause by poor bandwidth capacity.

What should come next into your concern is the hosting server resources usage. This includes usage of server CPU, RAM, as well as database connection. Make sure the server is running on sufficient resources. Track the website uptime using a third party software if necessary. All the other features are plain useless if your web host have no sufficient resources in your hosting server.

Pricing

Last but not least, over priced and hidden charges are not welcomed anywhere. To avoid being over charged, make sure you review multiple hosting plans and read up the terms & condition of the provider company clearly to ensure there is no hidden charges involved.

A final words for those who are getting started - getting an affordable but yet reliable web host is always the most important thing when starting of a new website.

I would definitely suggest newbies to spend more time in studying customer reviews and feedbacks before purchasing any web hosting service. As for my recommendation, Blue Host is one of the top rated hosting companies and you should have a look on them. To read further on Bluehost review, visit BluehostSecretRevealed.com

How to Find the Best Blog Hosting

By Sean Raymond

Blogging is something quite popular in the current world. People write blogs for either personal interests or business reasons. And considering the important of a reliable hosting to the success of your blog, it's worthwhile to take some time to find out what hosting is the best for it.

Server Type

The most popular and powerful blog software is WordPress, an open source application developed by php and running against MySQL database. So, from technical viewpoint, Linux web hosting solution is the best choice for your blog, and it's relatively cheaper than a Windows one as well.

When choosing your hosting solution, please make sure it supports php and MySQL.

Disk Space

Blog software itself won't use a lot of space (less than 10MB for WordPress). And most of the disk space are used for the post you have written, and the image or video used by your blog. Let's plan for 2 year first, think about how many posts you can write per day, and the average size of them. After it, you can make a calculation to know the disk spaces you will need.

And a good practice in blogging is to upload video to YouTube.com and image to Flickr.com, then put a URL in the blog to display the video and images to your readers. By this way, the required disk space will be decreased significantly.

Considering most of the shared web hosting company will give you huge disk space (more than 1000GB), it's not something you need to worry about.

Monthly Transfer

Monthly transfer (sometimes loosely referred to as "traffic" or "bandwidth") is the amount of bytes transferred from your site to visitors when they browse your site. If you go over the limit, then either you will have to be charged with an extra fee, or your website will not be available. The amount of bandwidth you use is obviously related to the amount of traffic (visitors) that you receive.

There are web hosting companies that offer Unlimited bandwidth. This sounds like a good deal. But bandwidth is a commodity that costs the web hosting company money - unlimited bandwidth is really impossible. So, some web hosting companies set a limitation to the CPU or memory your site can use per second, once it exceeds this number, your website will be temporarily unavailable. By this method, they can restrict the usage of bandwidth since more bandwidth usually means more CPU resource or memory resource.

Unlimited bandwidth feature is very common in the industry, so you can just enjoy it, but do put an eye on the stable of your site at the same time. If you get too much traffic and the site become unavailable, you should start thinking about upgrade your plan to an even powerful one (VPS or dedicated server). And a shared web hosting solution should work very well when you have less than 1000 unique IP/day (this is not a small number, your blog has to be within Alexa 100, 000 to reach it).

Reliability and Connection Speed

Reliability and connection speed are something you won't know until you use their service. And this is too late.

So, you should only select the hosting companies which can guarantee its up time. Look for a minimum of 99.9%. Beside this, try to only select the hosting companies having money back guarantee policy, by which your money can be refunded if you are not satisfied with their service.

Support

There are 4 types of web hosting support, and almost all the web hosting companies will provide you with email support system, and online knowledge base. But we highly recommend you to sign up a hosting company with Online Live Chat support, by which you can get the support very quickly and explain your issues clearly. In most case, your issue will be resolved very soon.

Some companies will even provide 24*7 technical support, this is very nice as well.

Price

Price is always a factor, you should realize that you often get what you pay for, although it's not necessarily true that the most expensive hosts are the best. A stable, fast, and 24*7 support server is more important than money.

Most web hosts allow you to select an annual or 2 years payment plan that gives you a cheaper rate than if you were to pay monthly. You might be worried about if you are not satisfied with the plan you purchase, what can you do. You need to check that whether the company provide the money back period so that you can request a refund if necessary.

Once you have made the decision on what hosting plan you plan to purchase, you can further look for some coupon code via Google to get some additional discount.

How to Choose Your Best Web Hosting

By Puripong Koomsin

A good web host is very important in setting up a website. This is essential in ensuring the safety and security of your data. The last thing you need is to lose all your work due to a technical glitch in a server. For this sole reason, you, as an aspiring webmaster should pick only the most reliable web host among the hundreds out there.

This gives rise to the question, how do we do it? How are you going to find the most suitable web host that fulfills all your cyber technological needs? Do you pick the cheapest? Do you pick the feature-laden? Here are a few tips that might help in answering those questions.

The first thing you need to do is to get on the Internet and get busy searching. There are dozens of web hosts available that offer plenty of attractive services and promotions. Do not get hooked straightaway. Make sure you read everything they have to offer, including the fine print.

One of the main things you have to find out about is the connection speed of the server to the Internet. A T1 is sufficient enough for most websites, but a T3 connection is better. If it offers dial-up, forget about it and move on to the next host.

Another thing to be wary about is the server's workload. You have to know how many sites it is maintaining every day. If you choose to sign up with them, your site might experience a sluggish connection due to traffic from other sites. If your web host is currently accommodating many other websites, make sure that the servers can handle the strain. Do not choose hosts who claim they have 100% uptime.

In web hosting, storage space and bandwidth play important roles in having a good website. Find out how much space, file transfers and sub-domains they allow. Anywhere above 25 GB is good, especially if they give the option to buy more. Some hosts might say they have unlimited stock of all three, but in actuality don't. There have been cases where they only offer unlimited space if you don't set up big sites or adhere to certain terms and conditions.

Make sure that they do not charge you for your own domain name. Some hosts require you to pay if you want to create a domain name. If you feel your site doesn't require an individualized domain name, it is better to stick with the domain name given by the host.

You should scrutinize all the features available. Some hosts charge an exorbitant price for just a few basic applications that barely gets any work done. Ensure that you have adequate CGI-bin access and they can support your scripts. Opt for an FTP uploader because it is more flexible in managing your sites. If you're conducting business through your website, make sure the host provides secure encryption and shopping cart services.

The support centre also needs to be reviewed when choosing a host. Test their service by calling their toll-free number at unorthodox hours. Although they say they have 24/7 support service, they don't might not be so eager in picking up the phone. If there are any articles or manuals available on their site about their services, I suggest you read them. It pays to know whatever you can about the web host you're choosing.

To wrap it up, you need to know almost everything you can about web hosting before you choose your web host. Being ignorant to certain things might cost you and your website terribly. Make sure you review and compare at least five web hosts before you choose.

The Need For Web Hosting

By Mohamad Ali

Web hosting provides internet users with online systems for storing information, videos, images or any other content accessible to the public via the web. These systems are provided for by the web hosts, companies which deliver space on their own servers for use by their clients as well as providing internet connectivity, typically in a data center.

Once a database or web site is setup, the client will be able to easily access their server space using a web publishing tool or a file transfer protocol tool. Web hosting is the most widespread hosting service. It allows your website to be accessible on the internet 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Without web site hosting resources no web site can exist, which makes the provision of such services a really lucrative business.

A server computer is not a master copy of anything. No doubt it runs on its own but should a disk fail, the host will buy another one and install it and wait for the client to upload another copy of the pages. Server monitoring ensures your data is safely kept and that your hosted websites maintain maximum operational status. Connectivity to the data centers is supplied from diverse telecommunication carriers representing in excess of 25GBps bandwidth in total. Bandwidth is the measurement of the amount of data transmitted over an internet connection in a given time. The majority of web hosting companies normally set monthly limits.

Choosing a server requires a great deal of research. You have to choose the type of host that you want after which you need to conduct further research by reading on web host reviews that turn up in the search engines. Then you need to choose an appropriate domain name. If you expect a lot of visitors, do not go for the cheap hosting package as this would be detrimental to your business.

Website hosting can be cheap, reliable and fast. Web hosting plans normally come with full email support with unlimited email aliases and responders. Website hosting and editing has never been this easy. Add or delete pages, change navigation labels, and add links wherever you need them.

Reseller hosting, on the other hand, includes hosting unlimited number of domains. Reseller hosting seems like it is here to stay.

Free web hosting is convenient but it has its own drawbacks. Here the clients are usually required to permit the server to run advertisements on their websites. However, this can be very cumbersome and annoying for visitors. If the free host supports itself through money from banner advertisement or other revenue sources directly from the free hosting service, then they will last long in business provided they are not bothered by people who abuse the host server with spam or hacking.

Shared hosting is the most basic level of hosting, where numerous web sites are shared on one server. Despite its cheapness and popularity, this type of hosting cannot handle large amount of storage or traffic. It provides each website with redundant connectivity and guaranteed up time. It is good for hosting small scale, e-commerce sites and static web pages. All in all, it is a beginner's hosting server. This is especially so when the webmaster is still uncertain of his wants, storage space requirement or the number of visitors expected. You can upgrade your hosting plans to meet your requirement as and when the need arises. If you want to host your personal or small business website or maybe a blog, you can consider windows hosting. It is quite cheap.

Dedicated hosting, albeit expensive, is a system whereby you have the whole machine or disk to yourself. If ever your server were to fail, you will have to restart it. This can set you up for several hundred dollars a month depending on the features as well as the level of support you want include in the package. However, it is indispensable for sites with high demands.

Read This Before You Sign Up For Cheap Web Hosting

By Mark Bellinger

Clearly the appeal for paying a low price for your web hosting requirements is universal, however as the old saying goes 'you get what you pay for'.

So what makes cheap hosting bad and expensive hosting good?

Well the rationale is that the more you pay the better the support, technology, features & benefits you will receive as opposed to a cheap web host where you should therefore receive bad support etc.

Lets examine what can really go wrong by with a hosting company

3 Pitfalls of Hosting With a Cheap Hosting Company

  1. Poor Support

Prompt online or telephone around the clock support is so important because if its non existent when you need it most, ie when your site is down for some or other reason, you will suffer a thousand deaths.
  2. No Back Ups

If your hosting company suffers a hard disc failure & without having performed regular back ups, at best you will have a major headache in having to re upload all your files & images and at worst with no backups of your own you will have no website, ie you will have to start from scratch.
  3. No Added Value

With a good web hosting package you would expect to get certain features over & above the allocated amount of web space and bandwidth such as easy to install scripts and so on.

Whilst the above pitfalls are often associated with cheap hosting packages they can also be present with the more expensive packages.

What this means is that pricey web hosting does not necessarily mean that you will get the best of everything - in fact with some cheap hosting options you can get fantastic service, support & features.

For instance it is possible to get cheap hosting with the best, inter alia, of the following;

What is the Minimum to Expect From a Web Hosting Package?

  • 24/7 Support

Chat Support, Phone Support, E-mail Support - all non-outsourced at any time with quick response time
  • Free Website Builder

Not all hosting companies offer this benefit but it is possible to get it even with a cheap hosting package
  • Free Website Templates

Again not all hosting companies offer free website templates but a great selection can be had even with some cheap hosting package
  • Free Easy Install Scripts

Some cheap hosting packages provide more than 50 free scripts that can be installed via the control panel easily & quickly.
Some of the scripts include online shopping carts, image galleries, forum scripts, etc which can be added to your website with a click of your mouse.
So the moral of the story is that whilst a cheap hosting package can be the cause of many problems so can the more expensive packages.

Cheap hosting therefore does not necessarily mean that it is not up with the best in terms of support, features, benefits & value.

So if you come across a really good deal, do some research in terms of the company's track record & profile - it could be the best & cheapest hosting deal you will ever get.

Choosing the Best Cheap Web Hosting Company

By Joel M.

When it comes to choosing the best cheap web hosting company, there are a few things that you have to ask yourself. These are questions that are going to help you locate the best cheap web hosting company to use. Most of the information that you have to ask yourself is going to be related to what kind of site you looking to run. Are you looking to run a business site or a personal site? Now let's go over a few more questions that you are going to want to ask.

First of all, you are going to want to know how much you are willing to spend on your cheap web hosting. This is, of course, going to play a major role in the company that you choose. After you find a bunch of companies that are in your price range, then you can move on to what kind of features that you need to have. For example, one of the major questions you are going to have to ask yourself is how much space do you need? Of course, do not just think about how much space you need now. Think of how much space you may need further down the road.

You are also going to want to pay attention to how much traffic you think that you are going to be getting to your site. When speaking in web hosting terms to companies, this is referred to as bandwidth. It is very important that you get bandwidth that is big enough to support all of the traffic (or internet hits) that you are expecting to get on your web page. Once you reach your limit on bandwidth, then no one will be able to get on your site. If you are running a business online, this would be a very bad thing.

To answer some of these questions, you are going to have to look at how many features you are looking to put on that web page. For example, if you are just placing game guides online, then you would not need much space, because it is just text files that you are placing online. However, if you were going to run a photo web site and have a lot of different pictures up, then you would need more web hosting. This also plays a role in if people can download stuff from your site. If people are going to be able to download from your site, then you are going to have to make sure you have enough bandwidth for them to download.

Free Hosting Vs Paid Hosting For Your Internet Marketing Business - Which One is Best?

By Ben Clemons

What's the difference between free hosting and paid hosting?

There are dozens of places online where you can get a website for free on the internet. The main problem with these websites is that you have absolutely no control over them. I understand that a lot of people starting out in internet marketing may not have much money to invest in the initial stages, however starting your online business with a free website is a huge mistake!

First of all, when your website is hosted on a freebie web host, a lot of people don't take you

seriously and may not trust you very much. With all the scamming going on today in the internet, it's no surprise that people have their guard up more than ever. The vast majority of people wouldn't even consider buying from a site that isn't professional looking. Sure it may be nice to set up a free site for friends and family members to share pictures or something, but when it comes to dealing with customers, the trust issue is definitely important. You have to make a good first impression if you want to gain your visitors trust!

Not only is trust a factor, there is also the fact that you have no control what so ever regarding what happens with your website. Since you don't own the server that your website is hosted on, there is always the possibility that your website could be deleted without any explanation at all. There is really no way to back up your website with free web hosts either. If something happens where all your content is deleted, there's no way to get it back!

There is also the credibility issue. If you want to have a good online presence, using a freebie

webhost is not a good place to start. I don't know about you, but if I saw someone's website on a free hosting site, and they were saying they are an expert in that niche, I would DEFINITELY think twice before I purchased anything.

A domain costs less than $10 per year, and you can get a good shared hosting account for only $7 to $10 per month, so why wouldn't an expert have their own website? Seems sketchy to me, and it usually is. People take notice to these sorts of things. You must take your online business seriously, and branding yourself like this is not a good way to get started. When looking for a paid webhost, it's best to find one that offers unlimited add-on domains. This way you can host as many websites as you want on your hosting account for no extra charge. The only extra charge is the price of the domain name itself. It simply makes sense to go with paid hosting services if you are even the slightest bit serious about your online business.

Web Hosting Simplified

By Ambrosio Vega

In a very simple language, we can define Web host as - a web host maintains your website and transfers it to the internet for you. Whenever you require to put a website on the internet, you basically need 3 things

- Domain Name

- Web host account

- Web site

The domain name you specify, points to your web host's server. The server is where your website is physically located. When a person types in your domain name, the computer tries to find the domain record to see where it should go. If successfully found, it then goes to the proper website.

A domain name gives the permanent address of your website on the internet. It's the next part after www in your website address ie. if the website address is www.hithere.com then domain refers to hithere.com.

Choosing a good host - It is important to have an efficient web host; The web host should be reliable first of all and then it should provide great support. Otherwise, you will lose the effort made to set up the whole thing. It might be that the website is never up for the lack of support from your Web Host.

The user is offered a web site to place his or her files, data, documents etc. People can access these through their web browser. There can be an email server also for the user to send and receive email messages. It is the responsibility of the web host to provide user to get an address for people to get to others' web site.

Web Hosting Anew

By Tem Balanco

As the requirement for web sites has increased in recent years, so has demand for web hosting services. A new type of web hosting, known as reseller web hosting, is now being presented to meet up the additional requirement. In order to comprehend the function of reseller web hosting, you must first realize the task and the utility of web hosting services.

Web hosting services provide space for files which include websites on networked computers and these are often called servers. Web hosting service also gives the link and tools for serving those files through internet. There are also some web hosting companies like Internet Service Providers, who also give their users internet connection.

Home Internet connections, designed to handle the browsing of a tiny number of sites at a certain point in time, can't handle the burden of serving a site to many thousands of people all at once. Moreover, most home computers can't deal with the task of running software to provide so many connected users at the same time. As a result, users who want to develop and publish websites must use web hosting services.

Reseller web hosting has stepped in to fill a void that has opened up in the web hosting market due to increased demand for web hosting services combined with a limited pool of providers. The account manager who is reselling web hosting pays for hard drive space and bandwidth that they then pass on to contracted parties.

Reseller web hosting has become a major avenue for many companies looking to expand business. It is an ideal place for internet related companies to showcase their products and is a good source making more money. The concept is real simple;the resellers purchase space and services at real low prices then offers this to consumers at a price that returns a profit. They then allow the site to generate income for the consumers.

The technological maintenance and support are still provided by the primary, focused web hosting company. Thus, a reseller does not have to buy special tools or have any special technical awareness or expertise. Resellers can just handle accounts with help from software given by the main web hosting outfit.

As demand for web sites has exploded in recent years, so has demand for web hosting services. A new form of web hosting, called reseller web hosting, is now being offered to meet the added demand. In order to resell web hosting, an account holder is afforded the ability to employ his or her allotment of hard drive space and connection bandwidth on behalf of contracted parties. Businesses which already provide an internet service of some kind are particularly good candidates for earning additional profit through reseller website hosting. The reseller can simply manage accounts through software provided by the primary web hosting company.

Reseller Hosting - Package Size Varies

By Tem Balanco

Are you a person who is fascinated by reseller hosting? And have you checked the Internet to learn more about cheap web hosting resellers? Reseller hosting is essentially when a company gives web hosting services to other companies for comparatively low price and then they act as a web host for the other company.

You can become a reseller, the middleman, of web hosting. Cheap web hosting resellers generally provide website design services on top of website management service. They are also the host of the site, along with being the server for the site.

A reseller usually buys cheap hosting service from responsible we hosting companies. They then attempt to resell it at a profit to their customers. Most of the time, a good priced reseller hosting will attach some sort of amount to the hosting service. In return, this will give their customers more motivation to purchase the hosting services from them instead of straight from the principal hosting corporation. At times a reseller hosting corporation might include repairs, a website design, or even enhanced support to the package that they are offering.

At times, you might be the webmaster for three or four sites. Your job will involve designing sites for clients. Your business might call for more than one site. So will you need to have a web reseller account? This account is a web hosting account which allows you to build hosting packages which you sell to clients. Multiple sites may also be hosted on your own, using the disk space agreed upon for the hosting account.

The characteristic features of this reseller accounts are many. They generally are given with a reseller control panel that lets you to craft your own hosting packages. You may also allot disk space as well as bandwidth to each web site present on the account. You may also make changes in the space as well as bandwidth stipulations if the website's requirements change.

The way this type of reseller account works is that the servers and technical support are all provided by the reseller hosting provider. You are responsible for handling the accounts, invoices and customer service. Packages offered by resellers start at 500MB, but 1GB or larger is more common.

Do you find reseller hosting interesting? Have you done lots of online research to become more knowledgeable in regard to resellers of inexpensive hosting? Fundamentally, such hosting involves one firm providing website hosting services to others at rather low cost and then functioning as those companies' web host. You may call a reseller the middleman of web hosting. A cheap web hosting reseller normally gives website design along with website management service. They also are hosts for the site and will perform the work of the server. Resellers typically buy cheap hosting services from reliable web hosting firms, then go on to resell them for profit to clients.

Cheap Web Hosting Tips

By Tem Balanco

Who would want to pay a premium for things many people get at throwaway prices? Surely not you, isn't it so? If you agree, I hope every sane person would, you will certainly choose a cheap web hosting plan over a more expensive web hosting plan. However, you need to put on your thinking caps to ensure that your selection adds value to your web site rather than limping it. Don't worry because after reading this article you will be much better positioned to make a wise decision.

Don't be fooled by scams which try to sell you cheap web hosting plans. You have to look very closely at what is provided by the plan and that means looking at more than just the subscription costs. Purely looking at cost means you will miss understanding more important elements provided by the web hosting plan.

It all starts with creating a preliminary list of service providers offering cheap web hosting plans. Simply conduct an online search and list the providers down. Next, check which service providers sound trustworthy at first glance. At this stage, all you are doing is relying on your gut feeling to select a pool of candidates. These candidates would need detailed scrutiny that involves metrics and established facts rather than your instincts.

If you are conducting research to find a suitable web hosting plan for your business, you should evaluate the service providers based on the number of years they have been in the hosting business. This would help you assess the vendor's reliability. In addition, you should evaluate the dependability of the hosting server and the scale of data center operations.

When you are evaluating potential cheap web hosting plans, you need to look at the level of customer support offered by the company who provides the hosting services. There are many different levels of customer support, so you need to evaluate all of the web hosting plans against all available levels.

It would be best if you could get the hosting service provider to offer a free trial of the cheap web hosting plan it provides. If you are unable to obtain a free trial despite negotiating with the hosting service provider, try settling down for a money back guarantee. Please read the terms and conditions of the money back guarantee carefully before sending a paycheck or making an online payment.

Here is how to select a provider for cheap web hosting. First, list all possible providers. Then, narrow your list to those that seem trustworthy using instinct. Now, research the plans. Consider the following: longevity (how long the company has provided these services); dependability (are they reliable and can they be reached when needed?); scope of data center operation (what are the services they provide); level of customer support. Try to get a free trial. If not, settle for a money back guarantee. Remember to read the terms and conditions before agreeing to any service.

The Benefits of Choosing Shared Webhosting Services and a Linux Platform For Hosting Your Website

By Smit Mathur

As well known, web hosting allows companies to create their websites by providing space on a server and allowing access to the website through internet connectivity.

Whether it is shared, dedicated or reseller hosting, organizations need to choose the right kind of hosting services to suit their business. The only difference between them is focus and control. While choosing the best web hosting service, companies have to decide whether they have the technical expertise and control over the chosen service.

Cost-conscious companies looking for an inexpensive website hosting service should better opt for shared webhosting rather than go for dedicated or reseller hosting. Shared hosting allows many websites to reside on the same server making it quite inexpensive since the costs are shared between individual websites on the server. Moreover, each individual website owner has the freedom to create their own scripts. Generally, webmasters use PHP, JavaScript or HTML to make the website accessible to visitors.

Another advantage of Shared website hosting service is the control over the content created. But if a company opts for dedicated web hosting, it can control the server technology since they can host several sites on the same server as per the terms and capacity of the server space.

There are generally two types of platform for hosting a website, Linux platform and Windows platform. Although the owner can also opt for a UNIX platform, it is recommended to choose either Linux or Windows platform in hosting your website.

Linux operating system is generally preferred for demanding websites since it is considered reliable, safe and economical than Windows. Also the scripting language used depends on the type of platform. If the owner of the website uses languages such as PHP or MySQL, he will prefer a Linux platform than Windows.

Linux-based servers are reputed to have a very high uptime rate. With high uptime maintenance of 99.9%, Linux-based website hosting is the most popular and widely used web host in recent years.

A Linux based website hosting company tends to offer you features like, unlimited bandwidth, add-on domain capacity, unlimited disk storage, excellent feedback on customer support, 24/7 customer and technical support, a control panel with user-friendly features, POP3 email accounts, CGI bin access and some statistical program for analysis as well as auto responder script.

Another important factor in preferring Linux platform over Windows is the inexpensiveness. Since Linux is a free operating system, it is quite economical and can be easily converted into a Windows website without any problems. The only difference is the cost of distribution, which is borne by the web host.

Finding the Right Web Hosting Service

By Naveen Kumar Gupta

Since the dawn of Internet, there has been a constant and unprecedented growth in the number of websites registering daily. These websites are assigned a space in the World Wide Web, distinguished from others with a unique domain name.

The Web Hosting Services are also witnessing a subsequent growth. The web host companies now-a-days offer different types of Web Hosting services right from free, to costly to costlier. Free Web Hosting Services, to talk about, are hardly instrumental for any online business. They provide a little space on web that doesn't allow you to upload enough web pages, hence impotent in detailing your business properties.

If you are a newbie in availing Web Hosting services, it is advisable to find a Web Hosting Company that can guide you through.

You can start your search of a reputed Web host company on net, and circle in few companies with a sound history. This doesn't need any rocket science. You can rely upon your knowledge and zero in the companies that have a copious clientele list, satisfactory testimonials that act as referees, and provide maximum number of services. You can also take advice from their help desks of whether you need Shared or Dedicated Web Hosting. Weigh the pros and cons of both the services, and decide accordingly.

Shared Web Hosting seems a good choice for medium scaled businesses. To mention the good point- you pay less and stay free from managing the network resources. To mention the not-so-good point- with dozens, or may be hundreds of websites sharing the same web server, the chances of errors are more. So you don't get the chance to achieve much with a shared host.

Availing the Dedicated Web Hosting services is a wonderful move if you have a large scaled online business. The benefits of Dedicated Web Hosting are many. You get SSH or Shell access and get a full control on your website. And as yours' would be the only site that the server would host, the chances of downtime minimizes. The physical location of Dedicated Web Host servers is also at the specialized data centers that promise optimal performance.

The purpose of this article is not to divert you from one web host service to another. Shared Web Hosting, despite limited features, is hugely successful. On the other hand Dedicated Web Hosting provides ample features, and still is not for everyone. The choice is all yours!

A Few Simple Tips on Website Hosting

By Larry McCullough

If you are serious about doing business over the Internet, you will eventually have to have a web site and you will need a place to host it. There are tons of available web hosts. Some are free, but most of the good ones will cost you money. It is important that you use a paid web hosting company. This is because free web hosts usually require you to use their domain name, and they will simply add on your website. This tends to look unprofessional to your visitors.

Make sure that you choose a good, quality web host. Web hosting companies are not all created equal neither do they all offer you the same benefits. When considering web hosting companies, you will want to take a close look at the following things: Affordability, their billing schedule, whether or not it is Wordpress friendly, control panel ease-of-use, customer service and available bonuses.

Affordability is very important. You don't want to have a lot of overhead costs. One of the advantages of doing business online is that you tend to have far less costs then you would, if you attempted start a brick and mortar business. You can generally find a good web host for between $4-$9 a month. Unless you are getting a great deal of traffic or you need a lot of space, you will not need to pay more than that.

Also, be sure to consider how many domain names a hosting company will allow you to have. Some web hosting companies will allow you to host unlimited domain names. This means that you can purchase a domain name somewhere else and point it to your webhost. This allows you to host a large number of web sites, all with different domain names, for one low-price. Typically, web hosting companies that allow this, charge more for domain names. Therefore, you may want to go somewhere else to purchase your domain names.

Consider the payment terms. If you don't have an unlimited budget, you may want to choose a wet host that allows you to pay monthly. You will end up paying a little bit more over the long haul, however, it will allow you to host your website quicker because you won't have to save up the money for an annual fee. .If money is not an issue, you may want to pay for your hosting annually. However, if you have cash flow issues, you may want to go with a web hosting company that allows you to pay monthly.

For individuals that use Wordpress a great deal, they will want to choose a host that makes working with Wordpress easy. Several hosts offer this.

You will be required to use a control panel. Most web hosting companies will allow you to look at their control panel before you join them. Make sure that you take advantage of this because you want to make sure that you are comfortable with the control panel.

Next, consider what bonuses are offered. Some web hosting companies will offer you things like a free press release from PR web or free Google and Yahoo advertisement credits. Make sure that you compare these because they can offer you a lot of value.

Lastly, make sure that any company that you do business with has excellent customer service. You should be able to contact them either by phone, e-mail or instant message and get a response in an appropriate amount of time. Before you agree to work with a company, try the customer service out. Call them on the phone, IM them or email them and see how fast their response is.

How to Locate a Cheap Web Hosting Provider

By Joel D Mclaughlin

When it comes to starting up your own web page, you have to find a web hosting company that will host it for you. Most of time, it is pretty easy to find a web hosting company that will do this. However, just because you find one, does not mean that it's a good deal. That is why it's important to locate cheap web hosting. Today we are going to cover ways to go about looking for cheap web hosting. The important thing that you want to remember is, just because you want a good deal on your web hosting, does not mean that you should have to suffer with bad service.

First of all, when searching for cheap web hosting, you have to start off using the search engines. When you search for "web hosting", you are going to see a ton of results. The best thing to do from this point is to open up a few different web sites and check for certain features that you want. After you find a few that have the features that you want, then it's times to start looking for the cheapest price. The best part about using the internet to check for cheap web hosting is the fact that you can compare prices side-by-side. Pretty much, this means that you can locate the best deal fast and with little effort.

After locating a few of the best web hosting companies, it is then time to search for some reviews on them. There are a lot of sites out there that have reviews on different web hosting companies. Most of the time, these review sites offer reviews from customers who have used those web hosting companies before and if they enjoyed using them. When reading these reviews, you are going to want to check for a few different things. For example, you are going to want to know the up time of the web hosting company. You are going to want to know how much they are going to be online, because when they are not online, your site is not online. Thus, if you are trying to run an online business, then you can see why it would be very important to find a web hosting company that is going to be running a lot.

Finding cheap web hosting is not hard, however, you just have to double check things to make sure that you are getting a great deal and you are getting the features you want as well. After all, it's not worth having cheap web hosting if you are not going to get what you want.

Is a Managed Or Unmanaged Dedicated Server Right For You?

By James Zimmerman

Web hosting is probably one of the most important aspects of any website. Today, there are a lot of companies offering affordable web hosting services that maybe appropriate for your business. You can classify this web hosting products into two - Managed dedicated servers and unmanaged dedicated servers. In order to understand the products under web hosting, you may need to look in to understand what dedicated servers are. This can help you in determining if your business needs a managed or unmanaged dedicated server.

Dedicated servers are physical servers where you actually store data. It functions like a normal computer having a processor, memory and hard drive. You might confuse it with shared hosting. Actually this is another kind of Low cost web hosting solutions. Shared hosting is mainly for small websites that may actually afford to share hosting resource. Dedicated servers as the name implies are servers that is only for the use of one owner. In short, nothing is shared. This is for those companies that require large websites. These servers have more function than the normal budget web hosting accounts. What is good about it is that you are not in the mercy of others and you don't have to worry of the loading time because it is much faster. If you are a large company, then having a dedicated server is a good idea.

Dedicated servers are not meant for everyone. Of course if it is just a personal site, you would not need an expensive dedicated server. You will just need a discount web hosting account to meet your needs. For big businesses that may need large space to accommodate scripts, huge number of visitors, bulletin boards and even games, you may need to consider having your own dedicated servers. Other applications like installing programming software and customizing operating system may need to have a dedicated server

There are two kinds of dedicated servers - managed and unmanaged. It is not that hard to differentiate the two. The main point of it lies in your hosting company but there are some basic things you need to know about this two. Unmanaged dedicated servers are cheaper. Your hosting service provider will install everything and leave the rest you. There is a big chance that you may encounter trouble and no one would be there to assist you. If you encounter problem like reconfiguration, they would not take time to fix it. The web hosting company would not do anything and it would not even upgrade your software. The only time that they would come in is when there is a failure in the hardware or the data center needs to be rebooted. You sometimes need to pay fees no matter how minimal support that you need.

On the other hand managed dedicated servers are opposite. The hosting company will perform admin function like upgrades and installation of features. In case trouble happens they are just a call away. When choosing managed dedicated servers providers you need to consider three important factors. First are the reputation and the support that the company have. Make sure that their terms are fair. Check out the testimonials of their clients. Look into the specifications that they offer like memory, size of hard drive and bandwidth that can be customized for your needs. Lastly see if the price is normal and competitive.

Before actually deciding which one is the best for your business, make sure to evaluate first you needs. Your business may need security and support when it comes to managing the server. If you don't have IT personnel and you are not that technical enough, then a managed dedicated server can work for you. Make sure that before signing any contract, you read first the policies that they have when it comes to managed or unmanaged solutions so that you can be sure that you made the right choice.

Are Free Or Cheap Web Hosting Companies Really a Good Deal?

By Jack Pooley

The fact is, most free and really dirt cheap web hosts sound like a good deal, but they really aren't. Basically, there are problems with using a free web hosting company for any type of e-commerce or business website, and I'm going to discuss those issues now.

If you're only looking for a spot to put a small, simple personal website, then free web hosting may be what you're looking for. But, if you can afford to spend even a few dollars a month, a paid host is a better deal, even for a personal web site. If you really can't afford to pay anything, and you want a "free" website, my best recommendation is to get a blog at either Blogger.com or WordPress.com, and use that for your website. Both of these platforms are stable and easy to use, and as long as your purpose is simply to have a personal website accessed by a few friends and relatives, they'll do just fine. If you want to make a few bucks, you can set up adsense accounts on these sites, or put links on them that lead to your affiliate sales pages. If you're looking to make a commercial web site, Blogger.com is a little more friendly to these kinds of things than WordPress.com. Plus, the search engines like these sites, and you may find an audience and discover that your blog is much more popular than you thought it could be.

Most other free web hosts come with one or more of the following problems, and really limit your ability to conduct business online.

1. Long urls, with the free web hosts name in them. This doesn't instill much confidence in prospective buyers or clients.

2. Free web host sponsored links and advertising. People who click on these ads make money for them, not you, and leave your website.

3. Space and bandwidth given to web sites by free hosting companies are normally quite small.

4. Most free hosts restrict your ability to advertise or run a business web site that processes purchases.

5. No ability to obtain SSL certificates or handle transactions securely, even if they are allowed.

6. Technology used at these sites is not state of the art, and they are often slow to load.

7. Pearl, CGI and scripts are often not updated to current versions, and requests for updates are usually denied.

8. Support is, at best, not very good or quick to respond. At some free web hosts, it is virtually non-existent.

9. Most do not give you the tools you need to build a web site, like an online site builder and templates, or a free script library to install blogs, galleries, or other features.

10. Cron jobs, necessary to run certain scripts and other features, are often not provided or allowed. Databases may not be provided or allowed.

On top of all of this, free web hosting and really cheap web hosting (especially those that allow you to pay by the month), attract spammers, scammers, phishers and hackers. These low-lifes of the internet world may wind up on your shared IP address, and can cause problems that I'll talk about when I discuss cheap web hosting.

In my opinion, if you just want a personal web site to put your thoughts or opinions online, get a free blog and start writing. But if your intention is to make a living online, or at least to have a professional online business presence, you're going to have to pay for a real domain name and your web hosting. If you expect to be successful, and you want to make getting a full featured professional web site up and running as easy as possible, plus you want access to a quick, responsive tech support team to help you do it, you really need a "premium" web host.

As with free web hosts, if you're just setting up a small personal site, but want to build the site yourself, and want more flexibility as to the template you use, and want to be able to add pictures, video and audio, then a real dirt cheap host may be a good deal for you. But for a business or e-commerce web site, cheaper is not always a bargain.

Really cheap web hosting plans usually have one or more of the same problems as free hosting. Slow speed, small space and bandwidth, overselling of both space and bandwidth, lack of service and tech support, and less than state of the art security and equipment. And there are a few problems with really cheap web hosts that can really impact your business website.

First, if you're building your first website or your tenth, you're probably going to run into some problems or issues. A good premium hosting company will help make the process easier by giving you a online Site Builder and templates to make building the web site easier, and will also have a script library to make installing a blog, photo gallery, forum, or online store much easier and simpler to do. Still, you may have problems or questions as you build and launch your web site. In my opinion, having a good, quick tech support system in place is the biggest benefit of going with a premium hosting company. A really good one will have sufficient staff to provide rapid responses to support tickets, plus chat and phone support, for when you really need it.

You may think that going with a well known web host that may offer what appears to be an unbelievable deal is your best bet, but the primary complaints that most people have with the really large cheap hosts have to do with their lack of support. Many of them seem to spend more on advertising and celebrity endorsements to gain more customers, than they do on providing service and support to their existing customers. If you never need to use tech support, then one of these web hosts may work just fine for you, just make sure you understand how some of their advertising "low balls" their actual costs.

Really cheap web hosts advertise prices from $2.95 to $4.95 a month, and some also advertise month to month payments. I even saw one that had a special deal and offered the first month of hosting for $1! What they don't reveal in their ads, is the fact that to get the lowest price or the special deal, you often have to pay for your hosting for 2-5 years in advance! For example, one site the advertises a $3.95 a month plan, and a monthly payment option, only gives you that $3.95 price if you pay 5 years in advance. For paying for one year, the price is actually $8.95 a month, and to pay by the month it goes up to $9.95 a month! Some web hosting companies also offer great specials for the first month or first year, to get you to sign up, but then the price to continue hosting with them is much higher than you would pay for a good premium hosting plan.

The final major problem with really cheap web hosting, especially from sites that offer month to month payment plans, is that they attract spammers, phishers, hackers and other internet bottom feeders. The problem for your business web site, is that your may wind up sharing an IP address with one of these sites. If you use email to send newsletters or sales flyers to your clients, you may find your emails blocked by one or more of the major mail servers, simply because a spammer who shares your IP address has broken the rules. Eventually, your web host will confirm to the email service that they have removed the offending account, and eventually your IP will be unblocked, but in the meantime, you can't communicate with your customers. Meanwhile, the spammer or phisher knew their account would be shut down in a matter of days or weeks, and they don't care. They spend as little as possible to open the site, paste up a cloned website, make a few dollars on their scam, and just move on to another really cheap web host when their account is closed.

The fact that these bargain hosting companies get so many spam and phishing complaints can hurt your business in another way. You may be unfairly accused of spamming, simply because a few of your clients click your email into their spam folder, rather than clicking on your unsubscribe link. Many people simply don't realize that doing that can lodge a spam complaint against you with their email provider, they just didn't want to receive your emails anymore. When they receive the spam complaint from the email provider, most premium hosts will give you a chance to provide documentation that you aren't a spammer, before they close down your account. However, some of the large really cheap hosts have adopted a policy of "guilty until proven innocent", since the majority of the complaints they receive are valid. You may find your website shut down, and your domain name locked up for weeks, while you prove your innocence to your hosting company.

For the most part, when it comes to web hosting, like with most things, you get what you pay for. But, this doesn't mean you have to pay an arm and a leg to get great hosting. In fact, the difference in price between a good premium web host and a dirt cheap one is only a few dollars a month. Of course, you can pay a lot more, and some premium hosts charge up to $39.95 a month or more to host one website. But you don't have to pay anywhere near that amount to get great, full featured web hosting. I've been building and marketing web sites for years, and before I switched to the web host I use now I researched literally thousands of web hosting companies to come up with the best one for e-commerce hosting. I tried out dozens of the ones that made the initial cut, using their 14-30 day trial periods to find out if they were as good as they said they were, and came up with a list of Top Ten Hosts that really deliver exceptional service and excellent hosting packages for a bargain price.

6 Easy Ways to Do Web Hosting Comparison

By Daren Albom

With the ever growing popularity of internet, more and more hosting companies pop up from nowhere offering their hosting services. Therefore the hosting industry has never been this competing before. To potential customers like us, choices and competition actually work with us where we can enjoy a better service and rate. However, sometimes too many choices will confuse us too. Everyone is offering the almost same service and rate but who is the best and who should we pick? This article will give you a point list of criteria you can use to compare web hosting providers.

Location

First thing first, you need to know who the hosting provider is, where they are located. This matters because if your users are from local while you are hosting your website elsewhere, this might cause some slow access to the site. Therefore you need to check who they are, what kind of hardware they have and where their data centers are located. However if you website is targeting a worldwide users, the location of server will not matter.

Web space

Secondly, check the hosting package the company is offering. How big is the web space they are giving out? Is it sufficient to cater for your use? For your information, web space is the size of storage that you will get when you subscribe to a hosting plan. It serves to store all your files and data. Therefore if you are building a huge website, you will need more space.

Bandwidth

When users access to your website, they will send request to the server for the particular file with a certain URL. When this request is sent, it will consume bandwidth usage. If your website has too many visitors and send the request at the same time, your server will need to work hard to handle that. In fact if the amount of bandwidth it consumes is more than what is offered in your hosting plan, your website will be down. Your website is congested. However, it's kind of difficult to estimate how big you need your bandwidth to be. But by comparing this, you can roughly have an estimate how good the hosting company can serve you in case you got spikes of traffic.

Add On Domains

Hosting plan nowadays usually come with 1 free domain. This domain will become your website domain name and automatically be the main domain in your hosting. However, chances are you might want to have more than 1 website and where are you going to host the second site? This is where add on domains kick in. Add on domain is the second onward domain or website that you wish to have. Some hosting plan only allows 1 domain name per hosting account. This means you will need to buy another hosting package if you were to build the second website no matter there is space in your current hosting or not. Therefore it is important to know your usage of hosting. If you are planning to build more than one website, go for extra add on domains packages. Most of the major hosting providers give unlimited add on domains on their package.

Software Compatibility

When you are building website, each and everyone uses different program and language. I do not know what language you know but you have to make sure that your hosting knows the language you use. Otherwise your website will not display like expected and even worse, the files hosted might not be readable and executable. Meaning you have wasted your effort in building the websites. Thus it is always a good practice to check the software compatibility of the hosting server. Usually major software like dreamweaver and frontpage are supported.

Website Features

If you plan to build an internet business shopping cart is a must for you. But you are not going to build it manually are you? There are many ready make features provided in hosting. Therefore, you need to know what you are building and check do your potential hosting providers give these conveniences to you or not. Otherwise jump to another hosting provider.

Basically these are the main features that you need to check on hosting providers. In fact the list should not be this short because you need to do hosting price comparison too. However it is needed to understand that different needs has different criterion to look at. Therefore define your end result and search for the suitable hosting plan based on what you need to have in order to get the end result.

Web Hosting Guide

By Bob Willis

You have finally created a neat looking website and purchased your domain name. It is now time for the website to be published on the World Wide Web. In order to achieve this, you need the services of a web host. So what exactly is web hosting and what do you get when you purchase a web-hosting package?

Web pages essentially comprise of content in terms of text and images. Now, in order to make this content accessible to online users, all these files need to be stored on a web server. The function of these web servers is to store tens to thousands of web sites and these in turn are connected through a high-speed Internet. When the user attempts to access these web pages, the browser connects to the web server that stores those pages and downloads it to their computer. So a web-hosting provider is a company that owns these web servers and thereby hosts your websites to be made accessible to users worldwide.

The web server computers are all housed in special buildings or sections of buildings called a data center. Apart from offering high-speed Internet connection services, these locations are set up and specially customized to ensure the optimum operational conditions and security for the web servers. These could include HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, & Air Conditioning) control, fire shielding, virus protection, data backup services, power backup facilities as well as even autonomy in case of any unforeseen technical errors or disasters. Another term for the web servers in the data center is a web farm.

The customer needs a certain amount of space on these servers in order to store their data. The amount of data available to the user on a web server is simply referred as space and is usually measured in MB. The Internet connection needed so that your web site can be accessed online is referred as bandwidth and is also measured in MB or even GB. The space and bandwidth form the two main characteristics of a web-hosting package.

Now depending upon the nature and purpose of the website, the customer can choose between shared and dedicated hosting.

In shared hosting, many websites are hosted on a single server within a definite quota of space and bandwidth. On the other hand, in dedicated web hosting one single web server is rented to a single customer. It is important to determine one's website requirement, future website prospects as well as hosting budget before you decide on your web hosting package.

It would also be a good idea to familiarize oneself with the control panel and its interface and features. Most websites feature a tutorial of the control panel offered so that customers may get a feel of the control panel, the place where various aspects of the hosting account are controlled and managed.

The quality of customer support and technical support is yet another aspect that comes into play when looking for a web host. So remember to do your research well and read user reviews about the web host before you take the plunge into the web hosting market.

Web Hosting Marketing - How to Get Your First Client

By Bedrich Omacka

If you just started new web hosting company your main task will be to get your first client. In this article you will find some solutions which can help you to get in this very competitive business.

Your business plan should cover both short term and long term strategy. We will talk more about short term strategy because you need to get your first clients as quickly as possible. In the beginning you have to pay monthly fees for the server or reseller hosting plan and it is very important to avoid losses caused by paying for unused web space. Anyway, when you are implementing short term strategy you should always try to do it in the way which will help you in the long run too.

First solution is advertising in web hosting forums. Just google for phrases like web hosting forum or web hosting board to find some of them. Join 3 - 5 forums which allow members to advertise their services for free. Also make sure that you can set up the signature which will be displayed under each post you make. The signature should be visible no matter if you are logged in or not and should be do-follow. This way you will not only get targeted traffic but also improve pagerank of your website. Before you create your first advertising thread read the forum rules. Some forums require about 10 - 15 posts before you can post to the advertising area. Make quality posts -- try to answer questions of your potential customers. You should choose carefully where to post. If you will answering questions like How much web space do I need for my photo gallery you will probably get more targeted traffic through your signature link then if you will answer questions of other web hosts like Which payment processor do you prefer.

Another way how to get small instant traffic together with SEO effect is submission to the web hosting directories. People who look for new web host usually want to compare a few companies before they sign up for any. This is the reason why web hosting directories are so popular and why you should submit your company to most of them. 99% of them allow free submission and link directly to your site so you will get some links to your site too.

The first two ways was good for those who have limited budget and can not pay for advertising. If you have some money to spend try to invest them in advertising. You can use PPC systems like google adwords. Put the tracking code on the page which is displayed when the order form is submitted and payment received. This will give you control over the costs. For example if your profit from single sale is $20 and your conversion ratio 10% you can spend up to $2 for every click. There are many advertising solutions on cost per click bases. You can try a few networks which pay the commission to their publishers who display ads on their websites. The advantage of such networks is the possibility to buy advertising space across the whole network. You can target your ad to webmaster related sites without contacting the site owners.

Very popular way how to increase the sales is running affiliate program. It is very cost effective solution because you pay only commission for the sales. This way you can never lose. It is possible to buy php script or join some of the affiliate networks. The first solution is cheaper, the second one more comfortable. If you join affiliate network you will have to pay about 10 - 30% extra but you will not need to send payments personally to every affiliate. If you join the network with a lot of affiliates it will be easier to attract them for your offer then surfing around and contacting every site owner.

Since this is free service, obviously you can't charge the company in case your data lost. It is a good habit to backup your files often to avoid such issue from arises. The recommendation is to backup your data once in a week. The larger your data the more frequent you should update your data.

Most free web hosting asp services provide 500MB capacity. Depending on the type of your website, for complicated website application this capacity may be not enough. You can either pay for more advanced service or use the trick that I will explain below.

I signed up with this company at once time. They are good really: fast response, no downtime, multiple server locations. But I need more capacity for my website application around 25GB. This application is for forex trading website.

DNS Errors May Cause Web Site Problems

By Allen Howard

What is DNS?

DNS internal workings are very complex. However, as far as the end user is concerned, it is actually fairly simple.

DNS is like a telephone book. When you type a URL (domain name) into your browser, or click a link, your web browser searches for the domain name from a table on a DNS server, which finds it and hands your network an "IP address" which is much like a telephone number. An IP address looks something like 111.22.333.44.

The DNS nameservers and IP addresses must match on the server and at the domain registry for optimal website performance.

Common DNS Problems

If you run a "DNS Report" (you can find an excellent DNS report online at dnsstuff.com) Most of the problems you may find will not cause your website not to be found properly. The essential thing to keep in mind is that the nameserver records and IP addresses in the domain name registration match the DNS zone on the server. This is not usually a problem for brand-new web sites, but if you move your website from one server to another, it can be a problem.

Glue at parent nameservers, Mismatched glue error

This means that your registrar probably has your name servers listed incorrectly. This is most likely to occur if you have custom nameservers. Be sure the IP addresses at the domain registry match the IP address on the server. If you have shared hosting and do not have access to DNS on your server, please ask your server administrator for the correct designations. This can also be caused if your domain's TLD (".com" or ".net" or ".org" for instance) does not match the TLD of the nameserver. This will not cause your DNS to fail. But it may cause a tiny bit of slowness. It is usually nothing to worry about.

Missing (stealth) nameservers and Stealth NS record leakage

Your site will most likely run in this condition, but may cause strange results from time to time. This happens when there are nameservers listed in the DNS zone on the server, which are not listed on the domain. This is most likely to happen if the site has been moved from another server. The solution is either:

  • If the nameservers are not needed, remove the extra nameservers from the DNS zone on the server.

  • If the nameservers belong, you will need to add them to your domain registration.

Lame nameservers or Missing nameservers

This is the essentially the opposite of the Missing (Stealth) nameservers, above.

  • You may have forgotten to add a nameserver when you created/ updated your domain registration. Be sure that you have all of the required nameservers properly added to your domain registration.

  • Make sure that the nameservers answer authoritatively on the server for your domain. If the nameservers and IP addresses on the server match at the registry and you still have a problem, you may need to ask your server administrator to help.

Missing "A" records

Make sure that each "NS" record on the server also has a corresponding "A" record. This is usually done on the server.

Nameserver Propagation

This is not an actual error. It takes a certain amount of time for nameserver changes at the registry to be noticed by DNS servers worldwide. Propagation will usually start within about 2 hours or even less, and should be complete within 48 hours. If your site continues to behave erratically after 48 hours, you may want to run a DNS Report.

Other Errors

Most other errors you may find will not affect your web site's functionality. If you are experiencing problems, you may have to do more research.
